Sensory Interior Design Project with Hank

·

Madeja Interiorismo Sensorial, founded by Mariana Márquez, proposes architecture, interior design, furniture and remodeling projects; with great experience in rooms for babies and children.

We got to know Mariana's work some time ago and the admiration was mutual; for months we talked about creating something together and the ideal project was presented. The slogan was to design a space designed to receive a newborn and the first thing that came to my mind was that it was the perfect opportunity to work hand in hand with Madeja Interiorismo Sensorial.

We accompany parents in this process to define the space where their baby will grow, designing a space that will encourage their development, provoking imagination and autonomy. How do we achieve this? using furniture that adapts to each stage of growth of the girl, taking into account different educational currents, being aware of the importance of the formation of children for the human being.

The challenge? Transform the guest bedroom into a blank canvas for the creation of this new space. The main inspiration for this room was an illustration provided by our clients where the main characters were forest animals and the femininity of flowers. Based on these elements, we design the room; from the mural that would cover most of the walls, as well as the Montessori-inspired furniture and all the whites for the bed, bathroom and decorative cushions.

The mural was made by an artist graduated from the San Carlos school, who joined the team understanding the axes of this project. We use soft and warm colors, achieving a harmonious environment for the new member of the family.

An important part of the project was to preserve the bookcase / desk that covered the entire wall, giving it a new functionality. We take advantage of the desk area to install a Montessori-type mirror with a three-level support that can be changed depending on the baby's growth.

In this space we also placed a mattress upholstered with a white and pink striped cotton fabric, harmonizing with the rest of the room, as well as decorative cushions in different sizes and colors. We use the wall space to hang a series of six watercolors reproducing the characters of inspiration. The other spaces of the bookcase were transformed so that the toys and objects were within the baby's reach.

The crib whites and the baby sack were embroidered with the same motifs as the mural, creating continuity between the furniture and the accessories. These types of personalized details were essential for the entire room to become a unique space.

I am extremely grateful to Mariana for having shared her expertise for this project working hand in hand with Co. Diseño, there is no doubt that when we work as a team with other experts, we mutually enrich each other achieving extraordinary results.
